Why we’re choosing hemp and organic cotton for our MTB gear

Because your skin, your comfort, and your planet deserve better

Most riding jerseys are made from synthetic fibres—polyester, nylon, plastic blends that trap heat, hold odour, and often end up in landfill. At VANA, we’re doing things a little differently. We’re not perfect, but we’re getting more intentional with every collection.

We’re moving toward fabrics that feel better to wear, perform naturally, and align with what matters to us: comfort, longevity, and a lighter footprint.

Why we’re choosing hemp (and why you might love it too)

We chose hemp because it offers real benefits for real riders:

  • It breathes—keeps you cooler during climbs

  • It resists odour—fewer bacteria, fewer stink cycles

  • It’s soft and strong—gets better with wear, not worse

  • It’s kind to skin—no plastic sheen, no harsh coatings

  • It’s lower impact—fast-growing, water-smart, and renewable

What it’s blended with

Our hemp-blend gear combines:

  • Hemp for breathability and durability

  • Organic cotton for softness

  • 3% spandex for stretch and movement

It’s a fabric that moves with you, dries fast, and feels like a natural extension of your ride.

On the bike (and off it)

We design all our pieces to flow from trail to town. That means you can ride hard, sweat plenty, and still feel good grabbing a coffee or heading to the school run afterward. Our natural fibre pieces breathe well, dry quickly, and don’t hold onto that synthetic stink.

This isn’t about being perfect. It’s about riding better

We still use a mix of fabrics across our range, but we’re choosing hemp and organic cotton wherever we can. This shift is part of our ongoing commitment to build better gear—for your skin, your ride, and the long game.
